Methods for Cleaning Your Relics
Add a mild dish soap to warm water. Using a soft bristle toothbrush, gently remove debris. After a few moments, rinse your piece thoroughly and pat dry with a soft cloth.
DO NOT: Use harsh cleaning agents that contain chlorine, acid or ammonia.
My preferred on-the-go way to restore brilliance & luster to silver or copper is Sunshine Polishing Cloths. They use special micro-abrasives and a cleansing agent to remove tarnish and grime; they last until they’re worn through! — See link below.
There are a few ways to create the sought after ‘antiqued’ profile of a Relic, both of which involve an oxidation process.
Copper and silver jewelry can tarnish over time causing a natural patina, more-so when exposed to humidity and body oils.
Immersing the metal into a hot water and liver of sulfur mixture & later buffed to the desired level retaining the ‘aging’ in the crevices.
Tips
Apply lotions, perfumes and cosmetics prior to wearing jewelry.
Avoid wearing jewelry in the shower, pool and gym or putting the piece in places it could get tangled or damaged. (ex. purses, backpacks)
Remove jewelry before bed & store in a dry place when not in use.
